The song that makes me fall in love with Jesus again every time I listen to it
Chris Rice ~ Prone to Wander
On the surface not a ripple
Undercurrent wages war
Quiet in the sanctuary
Sin is crouching at my door
How can I be so prone to wander
So prone to leave You
So prone to die
And how can You be
so full of mercy
You race to meet me
and bring be back to life
I wake to find my soul in fragments
Given to a thousand loves
But only One will have no rival
Hangs to heal me, spills His blood
How can I be so prone to wander
So prone to leave You
So prone to die
And how can You be
so full of mercy
You race to meet me
and bring be back to life
Curse-reversing Day of Jesus
When You finally seize my soul
Freedom from myself will be
The sweetest rest I've ever known
How can I be so prone to wander
So prone to leave You
So prone to die
And how can You be
so full of mercy
You race to meet me
and bring be back to life

A song my daddy wrote that nobody's allowed to steal under pain of jailhood
from our view
a moment in time
it passes quickly
both yours and mine
we can't see
what is to come
we barely see
what's already done
it's all laid out
nothing is hidden
there are no suprises
from circumstances we get in
To a mighty God
He sees it all
Our mighty mighty God
Not a sparrow falls
Our God is an amazing God
Beyond time
Beyond the way we think
He's not bound
to any limits
His timeless majesty
shines from within it
His ways are not ours
His thoughts are much higher
Nothing can squelch
His mighty and blinding fire
He's a mighty God
He sees it all
Our mighty mighty God
Not a sparrow falls
Our God is an amazing God
Beyond time
Beyond the way we think

Heaven
I've gotta say that I've lived too many days like I belong here
It's not home
I'm shocked to see the measure
of where I've been storing treasure
It's not home

Why am I depressed?

Draw me
I don't like country music.
At all.
Never.
Or so I thought.
Our pastor played the Keith Green song, "Draw Me" today in the service, and even made himself late making a slideshow showing the lyrics. And boy am I glad he took the time because I don't like country music, but these lyrics are some of the greatest I've ever seen. We were talking about distractions in church, and about how ANYTHING is sin if it keeps you from where you should be with God. I've found myself just a little distracted lately this last week. Not really because of any one thing, and not a whole lot. Just a little, whispering, tricky slip of the guard. Today's message and lyrics helped snap me back to. So what are these lyrics?
"Draw me, oh, draw me, please draw me, my Jesus.
Into your presence, where I cannot lie.
My soul is so thirsty, I cannot endure it.
And if I can't get closer, I surely will die.
Take me, oh take me, please take me, my Jesus.
Quickly, before I forget that I'm lost.
For so many times, my mind has deceived me,
That I really don't have to carry the cross.
That I really don't have to carry the cross.
I just need to know how to pray.
My wicked desires block the way,
Sometimes I have grieved you away,
I don't want to do that today.
Help me, oh help me, please help me my Jesus.
Save me from sins that I thought were all gone.
Kill me with kindness, and break through my blindness.
I know till I'm dead, I can never live on.
I know till I'm dead, I can never live on.
I just need to know how to pray.
My wicked desires block the way,
Sometimes I have grieved you away,
I don't want to do that today.
Draw me, oh draw me, please draw me my Jesus."
Usually when I put lyrics on here I regret that I can't just let you listen to the song, but not this time! lol! I put the parts I want you to think about or that are really great in red, as I usually do.
Don't let your guard down today! Stay with it! Stay in it! Anything that keeps you from God's best is sin, no matter how good it is normally.

Why I don't like the "What This World Needs" song
"People aren't confused by the gospel
they're confused by us. THAT is totally right when we Christians are blending in. How do they know we're different? How are we supposed to be different?
Jesus is the only way to God, but we are not the only way to Jesus. True, but according to the Bible, we are an important way. We are the watchmen! Over and over we are told to witness and preach the gospel.
This world doesn't need my tie, my hoodie, my denomination, or my translation of the Bible. They just need Jesus. This sounds like a bash on outreach attempts to me.
We can be passionate about what we believe, but we can't strap ourselves to the Gospel,
because we are slowing it down.
Jesus is going to save the world,
but maybe the best thing we can do is just get out of the way. " But if we're getting out of the way, how are we being passionate about anything? God never told any of his disciples to "get out of his way" except when Peter spoke Satanic nonsense about escaping the cross and the like. Rather, he rebuked them when a man took his demon possessed son to his disciples to be healed and they did not. "How long shall I be with you?" His disciples were supposed to be his helpers! They weren't hindrances, or in Jesus's way, or kept Jesus from doing his good work. Of course they messed up at times just like we do, but Jesus never told them to leave or just get out of the way so he could do his own work. We all know Christians have a hard enough time standing out and being holy and sharing their faith, and I think it's better to be too zealous than to have a "just get out of the way" mentality.
