In Leviticus, two men got in a fight. One of the men, in the heat of his anger, blasphemed God; so they put him in custody until God told Moses what to do with him. God said, "Take the blasphemer outside the camp. All those who heard him are to lay their hands on his head and the entire assembly is to stone him. Say to the Israelites: 'If anyone curses his God, he will be held responsible; anyone who blasphemes the name of the LORD must be put to death. The entire assembly must stone him.' "
So Moses told the Israelites, and they all stoned the blasphemer.
This passage brought to mind the scene in TIME CHANGER where the guy from the past hears the name of God blasphemed in a movie. He runs out saying, "Stop the movie!" and generally freaking out. Point is, nowadays most people don't think twice about using the name of God in vain or anything of the like. But it is one of the commandments that we NOT do that. And we just saw what happened to this guy.
